Building the Sea Wolf and Sea Lion Kayaks - Useful Links

Roy Folland Kayaks - Order your kit here!

WoodenBoat Magazine - we bought our kits at the 2004 Newport Wooden Boat Show.

West System User Manual - Even though Roy Folland provides East System resins (which we liked and prefered) - this guide is considered "the bible" of how to use epoxy for coating, gluing and filleting.

Lendal Paddles USA - As a Scot I have to support Lendal who have become world leaders from their factory that is a few miles from where I was born. We are paddling the Paddlok System shafts with varilock joints and the Kinetic Touring blades (Alex's blades are the Kinetic Touring S which are a little smaller and match her and the smaller Sea Wolf). We are paddling the CF - Carbon/Fibreglass blend which is stiff but has a little resilency for shock loading without breaking. All up weight is just less than 2lbs per paddle. They are a DREAM! They are also black - and that matches all our deck gear (!)

North Shore Inc. for the Adjustable Anatomic Back Band - Touring seat backs we fitted in place of the ones provided. Many kayak stores carry the parts.

Bosworth Pumps - for the internal bilge pumps we fitted. We used the Guzzler 400 with foot pump, lightweight return spring and duckbill valves (which resist clogging with debris) options. The light spring is a special order item - you could never pump the standard spring with your ankle muscles! Our pumps were made up in just three days after we called and were ready to ship. Tell them you are doing it on a kayak and they will instantly know what you want.

Ocean Kayaks - no we don't like them but we DO like their toggle/carry handle we used for deck gear. Many kayak stores carry the part on the shelf.

Harken Yacht Equipment - for 073 internal eyestraps and the 425 model fairlead for the boat ends to hold the deck life lines and the toggle handle. Most yacht chandlers carry these parts on the deck gear rack.

Ronstan - we used the RF5101 jam cleats for the rudder lines. It no longer seems to be available (Noc 2005) but try your local West Marnie for stock or a Harken equivalent.

Woodcraft - those nice Maple Cam Clamps can be bought here.
