The British Are Coming!

Paul Revere Statue

250 years ago - alerted by the lantern in the old Boston Church - Paul Revere (and others) ride out into the countryside at night to warn the towns to the west that the British are out on an expedition to seek out their arms. At Lexington the militia engage the British and are scattered. At Concord the militia make a stand at the North Bridge and with the "shot heard around the world" drive the British back. The British fall back on Boston and are harried all the way by the town militias. The Declaration of Independence is still 14 months away. But for all practical purposes the Revolutionary War has started.
