The Scots' Election "Shambles" 2

I’ll offer you some views:

  • Not enough effort was put into designing the forms (by the sound of it – I haven’t actually seen one).
  • Not enough effort was put into educating the public about how to use the new system
  • Change always causes confusion. Bet people pay more attention to completing their forms next time.
How would you like to be presented with a form that says (in effect):
  • Pick 1 of these 2 or write in the 1 name of who YOU want
  • Pick 3 of these 5 or write in the names of up to 3 people you want OR a mixture of pick and write ins to a maximum of 3.
For a 27 question ballot paper of this type - see - Don't Forget to Vote Tuesday

If “A**hole Americans” can manage it – I’m sure the “Smart Scots” can with a little practice!

Scot’s Labour Party’s legal challenge in a 48 count majority against them – get over it – if the majority is less than the statistical probability of counting error – expect a lot more of it in future. Never mind the spoilt papers for a moment – any statistician will agree that a recount in those circumstances is the correct thing to do.

Talking of disqualified ballot papers – remember the “hanging chads” in Florida in 2000? Looks like Scotland just became a “democracy!”

Oh Dear…
